SUSTEMICROP has developed its first workshop organized by Dr. Lamia Hamrouni from INRGREF (National Research Institute for Agriculture, Forest and Rural Engineering, University of Carthage) on October 23.

The workshop was held at the INRAT (National Institute of Agricultural Research of Tunisia) facilities in the town of Ariana.

The Workshop has focused on making attendees aware of the theme and objectives of the SUSTEMICROP Project (PRIMA 2021). Furthermore, the workshop has reviewed different aspects related to the exploitation of natural resources, more specifically plant species typical of the Mediterranean basin (aromatic plants) as a putative source of chemical compounds of pharmaceutical interest. During the workshop, the potential of essential oils extracted from aromatic plants as natural antimicrobials to combat different bacterial and fungal phytopathogens affecting many crops was also analyzed”
